On May 29, JBG SMITH and Washington Housing Initiative will receive 2019 Honor Award
WASHINGTON, D.C.—The National Building Museum will present its Honor Award to JBG SMITH and Washington Housing Initiative at its annual gala on Wednesday, May 29. Joshua Johnson, host of NPR’s 1A, will emcee the event. Matt Kelly, CEO, JBG SMITH will accept the award on behalf of JBG SMITH, and Anthony Williams, CEO, Federal City Council, will represent Washington Housing Initiative.
Johnson is the host of 1A, a weekday radio talk show that explores political and cultural issues that affect the nation. Produced locally at WAMU 88.5, 1A is carried on over 350 NPR member stations across the country. Before moving to D.C, he worked as the co-creator and host of the provocative nationwide public radio series Truth Be Told, which explored race in America. He began his career helping to launch a unique partnership between south Florida’s NPR news station, WLRN, and The Miami Herald, and served for over five years as morning newscaster for KQED in San Francisco.
“I’m excited to be part of the National Building Museum’s annual gala,” said Johnson. “The organizations that are being recognized have true impact on the culture and community development of the Washington region.”
The evening includes a “garden party” cocktail hour, seated dinner, awards presentation, and late-night after party, all in the Museum’s Great Hall. Information about tickets and tables can be found here.
