The National Building Museum launched a new website at www.nbm.org. The new site was designed to make it easier to plan a visit, learn about our exhibitions and programs, explore our collections, and find information about the Museum.
The new website was developed on the popular WordPress platform. It uses responsive design to provide a scale-able format that fits any size screen—from a desktop monitor, to a tablet, to a smaller smartphone. This means it will be easier for all our visitors to browse the site, whether they’re planning a visit ahead, researching our exhibitions and collections, or looking up quick details while walking in the door.
The site introduces several new features, including the following highlights:
Get Here. We now make it much simpler to plan a visit to the Museum in person. Find location, hours, transportation information all in one place. You will also find links to conveniently purchase exhibition tickets in advance or book tours and group visits.
Get Smart. All of our enriching educational programs are now easier to find under the heading “LEARN.” Here you’ll find links to more information about talks and presentations for adults, ongoing family-friendly activities, resources for teachers and school visits, and opportunities for teens to get involved in award-winning programs like Investigating Where We Live.
Get Lost in Collections. Did you know that the National Building Museum houses a collection? We preserve and safeguard objects that illuminate the building process and document changing architectural styles and construction techniques. Our new site presents much more information about each of the collections in our care, including newly digitized object images.
Get Involved. On the new site, it’s easier than ever to support the Museum by becoming a member. Visit our “JOIN” page, and check out the membership categories illustrated by our very own in-house Senior Graphic Designer, Vlad Zabavskiy. Current members can click on “Current Member Login” to sign in to the site, and then recoup benefits such as discounted program admission and low prices on great books and design items in our famous Museum Shop.
Take a look around our new site, and we look forward to seeing you at the National Building Museum. If there are things you’d like to see added to the site in the future or other feedback, let us know, we’d love to hear from you.
