Families invited to Design with Nature April 9
WASHINGTON, D.C.—The National Building Museum presents Design with Nature, a family afternoon to highlight the intersection of design, building, and the natural environment. In celebration of the National Cherry Blossom Festival®, the activities are set to take place on April 9, 11 am–2 pm. Attendees of all ages will explore the ways the environment can inspire design and be intentionally integrated into and around built spaces.
Attendees will:
- Fold origami flowers and join other families to design a large-scale paper garden to help bring spring into the Great Hall
- Construct and decorate your own nature-inspired miniature bӯobu screens
- Picnic inside the Museum and listen to a springtime story
- Discover how landscape architect Lawrence Halprin (1916-2009) created artistic and ecologically sensitive compositions to enliven American cities, including Washington D.C. (exhibitions ticket required)
Programs are free, drop in, and appropriate for all ages. Adult supervision is required.
