Celebrate Your Child’s Birthday at the Museum
Registration will open for winter and spring 2025 dates starting in November. Sign up to become a member to be notified first!
Provide an unforgettable birthday at the Museum for your children and their friends! Birthday parties at the Museum are 1.5 hours long and for children ages 3-8 (depending on theme). There is one morning (10am-11:30am) and one afternoon (1:30 pm-3pm) slot available on select Saturdays and select Sundays. Parties are a National Building Museum membership benefit and are available only to Family-level members or higher.
Each 1.5-hour party includes a t-shirt for the birthday child to take home, a Museum favor for all participating children, a hands-on craft activity, themed party hats, and free play time in a museum classroom. Participating children and six adults receive admission to the exhibits as part of the birthday party package. The cost is $350 for up to 15 children and $15 for each additional child, up to 20 children. Parties cannot exceed a maximum of 20 participating children. See Party Policies.
To be eligible for a refund, minus a $50 administrative fee, or to reschedule a birthday party, the Museum must receive a written request no later than three weeks prior to the confirmed birthday party. If a birthday party is canceled due to inclement weather, the Museum will reschedule the birthday party or provide a full refund.

All Aboard! Train Construction (ages 3-5): Children become train engineers for the day. They investigate all kinds of trains, and design and construct their own train using a variety of craft materials. Child engineers don conductor hats and “drive” trains along the tracks on a colorful floor map.
Brick Bonanza (ages 3-5): Children put on construction hats and explore architecture as they design and construct their own buildings using thousands of LEGO® bricks. Families can choose between standard bricks or Duplo, based on the guest age range.
Castles and Crowns (ages 3-5): Children have a royally fun time investigating types of castles. Wearing their own crowns, each guest builds their dream castle!
*New in 2024* – Building Stories (ages 6-8): Young authors and illustrators-in-the-making explore the magic of storytelling. After an immersive storytime, each child will craft their own personal books to take home.
