The National Building Museum stands in solidarity with all who protest peacefully, and with righteous anger, in America’s cities. We condemn this nation’s history of pervasive racial injustice and join in mourning George Floyd and the countless others who preceded him. The world we design and build must be a place for everyone to live—to simply be—without fear. The Museum will continue to probe the history of inequity within our built environment; to educate the public on not just what has been the reality, but what could be the better future we all strive for; and to foster discussion on ways to create policies and designs that both reflect and serve our communities. In a world of doubt, we must be steadfast that the path ahead is one of justice and equality.
